To make sure that campus is accessible to all people, Parking and
Transportation Services offers various programs to individuals with
disabilities.
CONTRACT PARKING
For University students, staff, and faculty with a valid state-issued
disability permit, contract parking is provided in a specific facility
as soon as possible.
All contract holders pay the standard rate charged for their particular
parking facility. Contract spaces are available 24 hours a day,
seven days a week.
To apply for a state disability permit, contact your doctor's office.
Your physician should provide you with a State of Minnesota disability
permit application form. He or she will complete the form and give
it back to you. The fastest way to process your application is to
personally deliver it to the state office address. If you mail your
application, the process can take between six to eight weeks. After
you have received the state-issued disability permit, simply call
or e-mail the Parking and Transportation Services office regarding
a parking contract on campus.
PUBLIC PARKING
Designed to provide parking for anyone at any time, public parking
on campus is available in two forms: hourly and daily.
Hourly rate facilities charge patrons by the hour. Rates vary by
facility and the length of your visit. This option is a good choice
for people who need short-term parking.
Daily rate facilities charge a flat fee for the entire day. These
facilities are the best choice for people who need more than short-term
parking.
Most parking facilities on campus have designated disability parking
spaces. A State of Minnesota disability permit or license plate
is required to use these spaces.
All patrons pay the standard rate charged in these parking facilities.
ON-STREET PARKING
On-street parking is a good choice for people who need short-term
parking. Many streets on campus have designated disability parking
spaces. A State of Minnesota disability permit or license plate
is required to use these spaces, where disabled individuals can
park for free for a maximum of three hours.
METERED PARKING
Meter parking is another good choice for people who need short-term
parking. Disabled individuals are allowed to park for free at University
meters for a maximum of three hours. A State of Minnesota disability
permit or license plate must be displayed on the vehicle. After
three hours, patrons must move their vehicle or pay the rate charged
on the meter.
