DEMYSTIFYING DERAILLEURS
$15 May 10, 7-8:30 p.m.
Front or rear?  Top or bottom swing?  Top pull or bottom pull, or both?  High normal or low normal?  Road or mountain bike?  In this class, we'll answer these questions, talk about proper shifting technique, proper maintenance, terminology, run through the components of the shifting systems, and get some hands-on training.  Bring a bike to work on and wear clothes you are prepared to get dirty. Class space is limited, so please reserve your spot ahead of time. RSVP by stopping by the shop (401 SE Oak St.) or calling us at 612-624-9468.

Open September 2011, the new U of M Bike Center offers great amenities to bicyclists on campus.

Located inside the Oak Street Ramp on the west side near the elevator lobby, this space will the following resources:

More Information About The Hub

For Members Only

A Bike Center membership costs $85 per year. The membership year is October 1 - September 30. If you join mid-year, the membership fee is pro-rated.

To sign up for a membership, send an email to biking@umn.edu. Be sure to include your name, email address and phone number. A PTS staff member will contact you with payment and program details. Memberships are not complete until payment has been received (check, credit card and cash accepted). Please allow approximately two business days to process and activate a membership.

RFID Details

The Bike Center is the base for an innovative RFID system, which permits bicyclists, who install an identity tag on their bikes, to earn benefits and incentives, such as reduced costs for tune-ups and commuter goods by simply validating their bike trips. Learn more.

Bike Sharing With Nice Ride

Bicycles can be checked out from public kiosks and returned to any other Nice Ride location. See campus locations. The program runs from April through November. For more details, visit the Nice Ride Website.

The University Bike Center and Greenway bike commuters are proactively pairing-up with one another on their commute to and from the University of Minnesota campus.
