President Kaler’s tour of the Academic Health Center (Monday, September 19) will focus on the unique teaching resources and collaborative approaches of the center and its colleges. His scheduled stops:
- School of Public Health. Faculty and students will discuss high-impact local and global public health research, including HIV/AIDS, the National Children’s Study, Nutrition and Family Meals, and Medicare.

- The AHC Simulation Center. Jane Miller, director of teaching and learning initiatives at the AHC’s Interprofessional Education and Resource Center, and students from nursing, medicine, and pharmacy will present a hands-on treatment of a simulated patient.
College of Pharmacy: Website
- The School of Dentistry Simulation Clinic. Faculty and students in the dental school’s internationally recognized patient simulation clinic will showcase technology used to practice operative procedures in preparation for when they’ll treat real patients in the school’s clinics. Kaler will take drill in hand to test his own operative skills on mannequins equipped with cameras, computers, and tracking sensors to evaluate his performance.

- Teaching Health Professional Collaborative Practice. Teams of health professionals will showcase new models of health care used in three sites across the state to provide best practices for collaborative care. Teams include faculty, health professionals, and students from medicine, nursing, and pharmacy.
