50th Anniversary of Open-Heart Surgery by Cross Circulation

This conference will commemorate the legacy of open heart surgery pioneered by C. Walton Lillehei and his team, one of true landmark medical events of the 20th century and one that defined the University of Minnesota as one of the great Medical Centers in the world. The conference will illustrate how this legacy enabled contemporary medical practice worldwide, established Minnesota's international leadership in the medical device industry, and provided the foundation for future innovations that have the potential to improve cardiovascular and respiratory health worldwide.
