University of Minnesota Academic Health Center pilots I.D. badges
If you visit one of the Academic Health Center's (AHC) colleges or programs, you will notice staff wearing bright blue, green and red I.D. badges clipped on lapels or hanging on lanyards. This is a pilot project to explore the use of consistent I.D. badges at the University.
The University of Minnesota is among the few public or private institutions in the nation without consistent I.D. badges for employees. Certain departments and areas of the U have developed I.D.s over the years, but this is the first effort to develop a consistent I.D. design for the Twin Cities campus.
The use of I.D. badges will be part of a larger effort to ensure that all members of the University community are more aware of their surroundings. I.D. badges help to identify who is — or is not — an employee of the University.
Discussions about further implementation of I.D. badges on the Twin Cities campus will be led by University Services, in consultation with the Safety and Security Steering Committee.
