Parent news and information online

Stay in touch with University news and events that affect you and your student by signing up for the University Parent email listserv. Messages are sent about every two weeks during the academic year.

The listserv provides talking points for supporting your student, information about deadlines, updates on programs and events such as Parents Weekend, special prices on athletic and arts events, and information on campus resources. The listserv is also the way we can notify parents of any campus emergencies.

For updates between email messages, join the University of Minnesota Parent Program on Facebook. We use the Facebook page to showcase campus photos, post quick news items, and poll parents about their experience as the family member of a U of M student.

Safeguard valuables

Before students bring their laptops, cell phones, TVs, tablet computers, bicycles, recreational equipment, or other valuables to campus, University of Minnesota Police encourage them to note the model and serial numbers and store the information in a safe place.

Students may want to install an application for locating smartphones and tablet computers. University police have had success in locating some stolen smartphones because the owners had downloaded a phone-locating application.

Job and internship fair

The biggest student career fair in Minnesota features over 200 organizations looking for candidates to fill jobs and internships. The fair, designed for U of M students and recent alumni, will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., February 23, at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
