StrengthsFinder assessment

From the 2011 Parent Orientation Newsletter

This year, the University of Minnesota is offering incoming freshmen an opportunity to discover and explore their individual talents by taking the StrengthsFinder assessment. The University is one of the few higher education institutions in the United States offering students this assessment.

Before students arrive on campus for Welcome Week, they will receive email instructions about StrengthsFinder. They will use the results of the assessment starting with Welcome Week and throughout their U of M career. This strengths-based approach can be integrated into the student experience in academics, career, leadership, employment, and relationships. By understanding their strengths and capitalizing on resources and experiences, students can do what they do best in their personal and academic lives. And they will be better able to say what they are learning and achieving.

The U of M is using Strengths-Finder to invest in your student’s academic success. After your student has taken the assessment, please discuss the results and encourage her or him to remember those strengths during the transition to the University.
