Student Groups and Activities
The University of Minnesota offers countless options of clubs, organizations, and activities for students. Getting involved on campus provides experience in an area of interest and is also an excellent way to meet other students with similar interests. For a list of current student groups at the University of Minnesota, visit Student Unions and Activities.
If the sheer number of student groups is intimidating and confusing, students can stop in the Student Activities Office in Room 126, Coffman Memorial Union, for assistance.
Sports and Recreation
For information about dates and tickets for any Gopher sports events, including football, hockey, basketball, volleyball, track and field, golf, and more, check the Gopher Sports website.
Additionally, visit the Recreational Sports website for information about exercise and recreational facilities on campus, which include the Minneapolis Rec Center and the St. Paul Gym.
Fraternities and Sororities
The Parent Program has worked with the leadership of the Panhellenic and Interfraternity councils to address some of the most commonly asked questions about fraternities and sororities.
Arts and Culture
With a number of galleries, museums and performance venues, arts and culture is an important part of the University of Minnesota. Learn more about shows at Northrop Auditorium, displays at the Goldstein, Weisman, or Bell Museums, and find the link to Radio K, the student-run radio station on the arts and culture website.
Music Ensembles
The University has a number of ensemble groups ranging from symphony, jazz, and orchestra to chorus, chamber singers, and gospel. Some require auditions, but some are open to anyone who is interested. For more information, see the School of Music.
Gophers After Dark
Gophers After Dark offers a variety of free or low-cost evening entertainment for students, such as movies, concerts, speakers, comedy acts, and bowling, each Friday and Saturday night. Students can learn about upcoming events at Coffman Memorial Union and St. Paul Student Center on the Student Unions and Activities website.
