Continuing to build the University's talent is critical to achieving the University's goal of becoming one of the top three public research universities in the world. The University requires significant expertise to run as effectively and efficiently as possible into the future. The Transformational Leadership Program (TLP) was created in 2005 to help the University build its own resources to lead strategic process improvement projects that improve the quality of life for students, faculty and staff by achieving improved performance results across the system.  This literally means projects are meant to result in meeting faculty, student and staff requirements more effectively, more efficiently and more frequently.

University of MN leaders have the opportunity to draw upon the consulting services of OSCI to help clarify their strategic priorities and identify related high impact performance improvement opportunities to scope into potential performance improvement projects.  These opportunities can then be matched to high potential future University leaders to accomplish through participation in an upcoming TLP offering.  The program is comprised of three 3.5 day sessions that further develops participants' knowledge, skills and abilities in change management and process improvement perspectives and techniques. 3M Company, a local Fortune 100 leader with a distinguished leadership development & process performance excellence program, partnered with the University of Minnesota to develop a curriculum that equips University participants with cutting-edge leadership skills to successfully engage in the challenging work of improving the effectiveness & efficiency of the University. Participants have the opportunity to lead strategically vital process performance improvement projects across the University system to advance the strategic priorities of their University units.
