National Consortium for Continuous Improvement in Higher Education
The consortium was formed in 1999 by national leaders in continuous improvement, organizational development, planning, quality, institutional effectiveness, and related areas. Its mission is to advance academic and administrative excellence in higher education by identifying, promoting, supporting, and sharing effective organizational practices among member institutions.
Pennsylvania State University - Office of Planning and Institutional Assessment
This office facilitates Penn State's planning, improvement, and assessment initiatives. It uses organizational change tools to help departments and units develop strategic plans, improve key processes, assess institutional needs, and develop collaborative team environments.
University of Alabama - Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) Initiative
The CQI Initiative serves to focus energy and resources on the improvement of processes in order to support the University of Alabama's mission of adding value to the state through teaching, research, and outreach. CQI is a collaborative effort that enables people to work together across organizational boundaries to improve shared processes. It can take many forms across the campus and includes a wide range of diagnostic and team activities to meet the needs of diverse organizations. Campus groups have the freedom to implement the CQI methods that best meet their specific needs.
University of Wisconsin, Madison - Office of Quality Improvement
This office provides services for strategic planning and process improvement, including consultation and facilitation services for academic and administrative units, throughout the University of Wisconsin, Madison. It helps groups identify their aims and then suggests methods for achieving those aims.
University of California, Berkeley - Business and Administrative Service (BAS) Excels
BAS Excels is the way that the University of California, Berkeley, is transforming its organization to better achieve its vision: to excel in support of the academic mission and chancellor's priorities. By integrating strategy into the way that it does business, BAS is in a better position to provide outstanding customer service and face challenges on the road to excellence. BAS Excels focuses attention on what is most important and helps make balanced decisions about serving customers, using resources wisely, working in new and improved ways, equipping faculty and staff (learning and leading), and satisfying the chancellor.
University of Iowa - Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI)
CQI provides assistance in developing and processing surveys and other forms of assessment, as well as providing assistance with group facilitation, process improvement, and departmental unit reviews. It is a liaison to other quality programs on campus and in the community.
University of California, San Diego - Balanced Scorecard
In 1993 UCSD elected to adopt the Balanced Scorecard model developed by
Norton and Kaplan at the Harvard Business School. This model is very useful
in that its multidimensionality ensures that management is considering most
facets of operations while focusing on the vision of where an operation is
heading and meaningful goals for attaining the vision.
