Video Service

As OIT seeks to continually research and implement new technologies and to strategically align its efforts with key University goals, there seems to be no other technology as important or relevant to assess than video. Network-driven video is projected by some to be the biggest application movement in the IT industry. As OIT continues to learn more about how video applications can be used to improve learning and research at the University, it must continually reevaluate its methods for delivering and supporting them at an Enterprise level.

Converging Services

Currently, the different video applications that can be found at the University are provided by a number of different groups from around OIT. Now, OIT is challenged to converge those services in order to better address customer needs and expand learning efficiencies.

Video Campus

By providing the University with a broad suite of video applications and robust Enterprise support for those applications, OIT hopes to create a Video Campus. OIT sees a Video Campus as a video-rich environment in which students, faculty, and staff use cutting edge video technologies to innovate the ways that they carry out the U of M's three fold mission of teaching, research, and outreach. Read more about OIT's vision of a video campus.
