The Office of Information Technology (OIT) is responsible for technology planning, activities, projects, and organizations at the University of Minnesota, directing the operations, services, and resources that support the University's mission and its central and distributed technology requirements.

OIT provides a wide array of services to the entire University community—from e-mail, to the telephone and network system, to developing and maintaining registration and human resources software, to security, to educational television programs addressing technology.

In addition OIT manages institutional information technology policies and standards, security practice and compliance, infrastructure, information, and solutions.

Over the past few years, people have come to expect the University to provide them with the most up-to-date wireless technology available. The current wireless network on the Twin Cities and Rochester campuses no longer meets that expectation. And that is exactly why the Office of Information Technology (OIT) launched a brand new wireless network in May. Joint complaints are the second most common reason people go to a primary care physician. Anne Minenko, assistant professor and clinician educator scholar, has observed that many of her senior medical students don’t feel confident about their ability to perform a joint exam. Motivated by this challenge, she decided to develop online resources that would help her students develop both competence and confidence.
