Bicycle Commuter Program

The Wellness Program and University Parking and Transportation Services are teaming up to offer employees an incentive to bike to and from work. Not only will a bicycle commuter be able to accumulate 50 points for his or her Wellness Points Bank. But the rider will also be able to earn a $65 wellness reward. (The $65 reward will no longer be available in 2013.)

How the Bicycle Commuter Program Works - UMTC campus

Participating in the Bicycle Commuter Program is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

  1.  Visit the new U of M Bike Center. It is housed inside the Oak Street Ramp on the east bank of the UMTC campus. The Center is on the west side of the ramp, located near the elevator lobby. This is the only place on the Twin Cities campus where a bicyclist can have a tamper-resistant, RFID (radio frequency identification) technology tag installed on his or her bike. The RFID tag is available during normal business hours at no additional cost.
  2. Locate a RFID reader station that is convenient for you to bicycle past. Bike past the RFID reader station. You will need to ride by the RFID reader just once during your daily commute to and from work. Your daily commute will automatically be tracked and recorded.
  3. No later than August 31, 2012, log 40 round trips, to and from work, to earn 50 points for your Wellness Points Bank and receive a $65 wellness reward for the 2012 calendar year. You can only earn $65 if you have not earned a second $65 reward for the calendar year for completing a different program.
