The Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action helps students and
employees from all campuses with concerns about possible discrimination, and
nepotism and consensual relationships. Consultants can discuss issues, help
resolve disputes or investigate complaints, and provide educational training
programs.
PORTAL (The Power of Respect
to Affect Lives)
The University of Minnesota Office of Equal Opportunity and Affirmative
Action has created an interactive sexual harassment educational program. The
goal of this training is to provide an opportunity for individuals to explore
issues related to sexual harassment in private, and consider how respectful
interactions can prevent the harm from all forms of discrimination. University
of Minnesota employees can register their participation in PeopleSoft at the
end of the program.
International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS)
International Student and Scholar Services offers individualized workshops and experiential activities to help you
and your group improve communication across cultural boundaries.
Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence
Through educational support programs, community engagement, cultural activities,
the Multicultural Center for Academic Excellence (MCAE) works to decrease barriers
to higher education access, increase the retention and graduation rates of
students of color, increase the sense of multicultural community, promote civic
engagement among students, and promote intercultural understanding and the
richness of diversity.
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender
(GLBT) Programs Office
Information and referral, educational programming, consultant & training
services, and community building activities available to all members of the
University community dealing with issues of concern to gay, lesbian, bisexual,
and transgender faculty, staff, and students.
Office of Disability Services
Customized technical assistance, consultation and training on programmatic
and physical access. Services and resources: Americans with Disabilities Act,
disability awareness, reasonable accommodation, policy implementation.
Office for University Women
The Office for University Women works to improve and enhance the campus
climate for all women faculty, staff, and students. In partnership with other
campus programs and offices, OUW works across departments and colleges to achieve
the following goals:
The Aurora Center for Advocacy & Education
(formerly the Program Against Sexual Violence)
Provides 24-hour crisis intervention, advocacy, information and referral
services to students, faculty and staff dealing with issues relating to sexual
and relationship violence. Offers volunteer opportunities, peer education programs,
legal advocacy, training workshops, and student internships.
