University of Minnesota
Office of Human Resources

Welcome to the University of Minnesota Online Employment System. The Office of Human Resources (OHR) has implemented this system to automate many of the tasks of the employment process.

You will use this system to:

  • Create/Review requisitions
  • Approve/Route requisitions
  • Search and Review applicants
  • Communicate electronically with Department Administrators, Applicants and the Office of Human Resources

Your Web Browser

The Employment System is designed to run in a Web browser over the Internet and is best viewed in Internet Explorer 5.5 and above. The system supports browser versions of Netscape 4.7 and above and Internet Explorer 4.0 and above. However, some of the older browser versions are less powerful than newer versions, so the appearance of certain screens and printed documents may be slightly askew.

The site also requires you to have Adobe Acrobat Reader.

Security of Applicant Data

To ensure the security of the data provided by applicants, the system will automatically log you out after 60 minutes if it detects no activity. However, anytime you leave your computer we strongly recommend that you save any work in progress and log out of the system by clicking on the logout link located on the bottom left side of your screen.

General Navigation

It is recommended that you do not use your browser's "Back", "Forward," or "Refresh" buttons to navigate the site, or open a new browser window from your existing window. This may cause unexpected results, including loss of data or being logged out of the system. Please use the navigational buttons within the site.

Left Navigation

All of the functions for your role will be listed in the left navigation shaded in gold. Each item below the header is a link in to that function.

The system is designed with buttons to navigate through each page. You will often see buttons at the top and the bottom of a page.

Tab Headings

Within the requisition, the system will display tab headings for ease in navigation. Once you’ve completed information on the initial page, you can move through the remainder of the requisition using the tab headings at the top of each page.

The system includes blue links at the top and bottom of pages to allow you to edit, return to a previous page, and open a printer-friendly version of the requisition and application.

The system asks you to confirm upon completing any action within the system that will result in creating history for the requisition and applicant.
