What's Inside

If departments are requesting TAs to evaluate their supervisors, care needs to be taken to protect the TAs. Forms should be distributed and collected by someone who does not have influence over the TAs' future employment or academic progress, and evaluations should be summarized in such a way as to protect the identity of individual TAs.

TAs could be asked some of the following questions about their supervisor:

  • What did the professor/supervisor do that helped you in your work as a TA?
  • In what ways did working with the professor/supervisor contribute to your professional development?
  • Please comment on the adequacy of your training for your duties.
  • In what specific ways could your supervision have been improved?
  • What else would you like the department to know about this professor/supervisor?
