Multicultural Teaching and Learning Resources

Multicultural learning explores the tapestry of perspectives in our world - reaching across boundaries of ability, age, class, gender, nationality, race, religion, sexual orientation and other social and cultural identities. Differences are valued, awareness of social justice and power is emphasized, and everyone attends respectfully to what others say and mean. Multicultural learning is education for life in our multicultural world.

This collection of resources draws on materials developed by the Center for Teaching and Learning staff members, the Center's Multicultural Teaching and Learning Fellows, and the College of Education Committee on Diversity. CTL offers this as a dynamic resource and welcomes hearing about new resources.

Multicultural teaching and learning resources

• Resources for Multicultural Teaching and Learning - includes (a) an electronic pathfinder offering resources on foundational readings, multicultural course design, building assignments, student development, and using web resources for searching out additional multicultural teaching and learning resources; and (b) a link to the yearly teaching fellows' grant funding program
• Stand With Us - GLBT Classroom Resources for Faculty - offers links to select resources that faculty may consult as part of addressing GLBTA issues that arise in classroom discussions and as part of faculty efforts to maintain a classroom climate that is safe for all students
• Suggested Responses to Negative Discrimination - offered by the College of Education
• Cultural/Ethnic Disparity in Advising - offered by the College of Education
• Multicultural Teaching and Learning Grants
• Mentoring - offered by the College of Education
• Issues and Insights Papers - a new series of papers, each of which explores a topic related to multicultural teaching and learning and incorporates resources along with discussion of teaching strategies
