What's Inside

Description

The purpose of this program is to build upon the current teaching style of each participant by learning from the teaching performance of a small group of model teachers. The model teachers represent a variety of disciplines at the University and possess unique pedagogical approaches that can be adapted to fit the teaching context of the participants.

Participants

All University of Minnesota full-time teachers are welcome to register for this program. It is recommended but not required that faculty have a teaching assignment during the semester of observation.

Activities

Over the course of a semester, teams of five participants observe expert teachers in classroom settings at the University. Observations are followed by a lunch discussion with the expert at the Campus Club. These conversations offer an informal opportunity to discuss ideas about teaching that emerged in the observation and provide the impetus to extend these ideas to one's classroom. Lunch is paid for and facilitated by CTL staff.
