As Program Director for Initiatives for Nonnative Speakers, I have the
good fortune to be involved in a variety of services designed to help
international instructors and teaching assistants. It's a dream job and
allows me to combine my love of teaching and language with my interest
in program development and my experience in administration.
My primary area of responsibility is the coordination of our ITA Program.
Through this program we provide language and teaching support to over
400 graduate students each year. Our services range from private tutoring
to large group seminars to video-taped practice teaching sessions. In
addition, I work with international faculty, providing workshops, classroom
observations and individual consultations. Other projects I'm involved
in include revising our ITA test, curriculum development, and the Council
for Academic Professionals and Administrators.
Prior to coming to the University, I held a variety of positions in
ESL, higher education and health care administration.
