As Assistant Director, some of my responsibilities are to assist the director, develop internal processes and procedures, provide coordination for projects sponsored by CTL, manage the database, create reports, and supervise the administrative support team.
I am also an instructor in the International Teaching Assistant program, where I work with students in the areas of communication, teaching methods and cultural issues. I help coordinate IT-TALK, an intensive summer program for Institute of Technology teaching assistants. I have presented several times at the national TESOL conference, including: ITA Exit Testing Issues and Considerations, Designing Content-Specific Pronunciation Materials, Using Pronunciation Software to Enhance ITA Instruction, and A Continuous Consensus Based Approach to Rater Calibration.
In addition to my work with the International teaching assistant program, I have also presented workshops or presentations on several topics on campus, such as: Creating a Classroom Culture for Multicultural and International Learning, Two Paradigms in Teaching and Learning, and Active Learning: Matching Teaching to Learning Goals.
I am a member of the Professional and Organizational Development Network in Higher Education (POD), and have presented at the national conference on the topics of Internationalizing On-Campus Courses, the Minnesota Course Development Model, and Using Messick's Framework to Validate and ITA Teaching Performance Rubric.
Some of my interests include second language pedagogy and international issues in higher education. I am also keenly interested in China, having lived there for six years as an instructor and a student.
