Education

  • B.A. University of California, Political Science/International Relations
  • M.A. San Francisco State University, Teaching English as a Second Language
At the Center for Teaching and Learning, I work primarily in the International Teaching Assistant Program. I teach courses and consult with international graduate students, helping them to improve their language, teaching and cultural awareness skills. I also train and supervise the undergraduate teaching assistants who work in our program. My other interests include language assessment and materials writing. I have co-authored two books for English language teaching: Contemporary Topics 1: Intermediate Listening and Notetaking Skills (Pearson Education, 2002) and Northstar Basic: Focus on Listening and Speaking (Pearson Education, 2003, 1998) Prior to my work at the University of Minnesota, I taught at San Francisco City College, Mission College at Santa Clara, and San Francisco State University.
