The University of Minnesota offers development opportunities for supervisors and managers, at all stages of their careers.

Most supervisory training courses are offered free of charge during the workday. Sessions are usually held on the second floor of the Donhowe Building on the East Bank Campus. Registration is on a first come, first served basis.

This e-mail listserv for supervisors and managers provides updates and offers a forum for discussion of management issues.

Core Skills

Core Skills program is designed to help new and experienced supervisors review the basic skills needed for effective supervision.

Lab Courses

Lab Courses are stand-alone sessions that address general supervisory skills. They are intended for both new and experienced supervisors.

Learn at Lunch

Learn at Lunch programs provide an opportunity for supervisors to learn about important topics in an informal, bag lunch setting.

EOAA Educational Programming

Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action offers educational programs and training opportunities on topics related to diversity, affirmative action, and intercultural communication. A calendar of available programs may be viewed at the EOAA Web site.

Situational Leadership II

The Situational Leadership II course offers a proven method for effectively managing and developing people, time, and resources. It's designed to increase the frequency and quality of conversations between managers and staff so that competence is developed, commitment is gained, and talented individuals are retained.
