The Personal & Professional Development program is committed to promoting the University's culture of excellence by helping people at all levels of the organization develop their skills and capabilities.
Personal & Professional Development courses are offered free of charge during the workday. Most courses are held on the second floor of the Donhowe Building on the East Bank Campus. Registration is on a first come, first served basis. Topic areas include:
These courses provide information and hands-on practice in workplace skills such as facilitating meetings, making presentations, and managing time.
The most difficult part of a job is often the interpersonal relationships, rather than specific work skills. These courses focus on enhancing your ability to deal with conflict, work with difficult people, and think creatively.
The University cannot achieve a culture of excellence without staff who are able to provide outstanding service to students, clients, and each other. These courses will help individuals or departments enhance their service skills.
Many courses can be customized and delivered for unit-level retreats or professional development activities. There is typically no charge for this service. For more information, contact Organizational Effectiveness at 612-626-0774 or e-mail Dee Anne Bonebright at d-bone@umn.edu.
