Strategic Planning Toolkit for U of M Units

Overview of the Project

The Office of Planning & Analysis supports the strategic directions and decisions of the University of Minnesota's executive leadership by providing information, analysis, and coordination of academic capital planning, institutional research, space management, and special projects.

UMN engages in system-wide strategic planning and goal setting. However, UMN comprises programmatic and geographically diverse campuses, colleges, and units in a decentralized model. There is a desire for flexible, accessible resources that units at all levels can utilize to guide their planning within the framework of the University’s four pillars of excellence.

Project Goals

• Identify and compile current documentation that outlines the University’s strategies, priorities, and decision-making processes.
• Identify and compile examples of successful planning processes, models, and resources.
• Compile content for online planning toolkit for units comprised of information above.
• Make recommendations to inform communication strategy for promotion of toolkit.
