Like many units, the Office of Human Resources (OHR) is strategically examining its programs and services to explore how to best serve the mission of the University.

While these strategic discussions are occurring, the President’s Emerging Leaders (PEL) program will go on hiatus as the leadership development programs offered by Organizational Effectiveness are reviewed. Many stakeholders will be engaged in the conversation to help determine how leadership development fits with OHR strategic planning objectives. Outcomes of the review process will be communicated.

Questions and comments may be directed to orgeff@umn.edu.

The President's Emerging Leaders Program provides a structured, yet flexible leadership development opportunity for high potential P&A, civil service, and bargaining unit staff. The year-long program, co-delivered with the Office of the Vice President of Human Resources, features educational and experiential components, fosters a broad perspective of the University as an enterprise, and promotes skill development to enhance leadership effectiveness.

The primary goals of the President's Emerging Leaders program are to: 1) identify, prepare, and support new leadership within the University of Minnesota; 2) to create a larger pool of candidates to fill open positions and/or leadership assignments; and 3) to create an organizational expectation whereby all administrators assume responsibility for identifying and nurturing potential leaders.
