Program Overview
The HR Orientation is designed to assist current and new Human Resource (HR) professionals and those that regularly interface with Human Resources in better understanding the context in which HR work is accomplished. The program is planned to provide a broad awareness of key resources, structures, roles, policies and practices. A major benefit to the participant will be a general overview, as well as direction on where to seek out information and people resources that can facilitate the accomplishment of HR work. Overall, the goal of this program is to better prepare and support HR staff and others in carrying out human resource functions at the University.
This HR orientation program is sponsored by the University's HR Pro group and is administered by the Office of Human Resources.
All employees with interest are welcome.
This program provides:
- An understanding of the context in which HR work must be accomplished
- A broad awareness of key structures, roles, policies and practices
- An overview of information and people resources for doing HR work
This program is designed for:
- Current U employees moving into HR roles or taking on more of the human resource responsibilities;
- New employees to the U who will assume HR roles here
- Current U employees who have an interest in assuming an HR role in the future
- Current or new employees entering positions within central offices that interface with human resources on a regular basis (e.g.,Disability Services, EOAA)
- Administrators/managers who have more broad-based human resource responsibilities and/or interface with central HR or their unit's HR administrator on a very regular basis
- Those who have been doing HR work for some time and want a refresher
