Turnover Intentions

This graph is based on responses to questions that assessed faculty's intention to quit, such as "How often do you think about quitting your job?" and "How easy or difficult would it be financially for you to quit your job?"

Faculty across all four campuses reported low intentions to quit their jobs. Faculty on the Crookston campus reported the highest intentions to quit, a trend persisting over the survey cycles in 2004, 2006 and 2008.

Potential Reasons for Faculty Turnover

This table is based on responses to questions that assessed the importance of various factors as motivation for leaving the University. Items were scored on a 1 (not at all important) to 4 (very important) scale and this table reports item means from high to low.

Item means suggest that the top motivation for leaving the University would be to receive a higher salary. Other reasons for leaving the University would be to join a department that better appreciates the faculty member, to seek a position of higher responsibility or to achieve a better work life balance.
