A total of 2,751 surveys were sent out to faculty and 1,012 completed surveys were received for a response rate of 36.79%.
The results of the descriptive analysis reveal that a majority of the sample was male (64%) and from the Twin-Cities Campus (80%). The average age of the faculty respondents is over 49 years and the average length of time employed in higher education is about 19 years, with close to 16 years of employment at the University. Almost all faculty members have a graduate degree (e.g., PhD., M.D., J.D.) and are employed full-time with 60% on a 9-month appointment. Close to 70% of the faculty are tenured and 42% of those are full professors. Approximately 58% of faculty perform supervisory roles but only 22% have an administrative appointment. Those with administrative appointments spend about 33% of their time on average in an administrative capacity such as director, department chair, dean, etc.
