Worldwide medical and dental referrals: MEDEX will work with you to help you locate appropriate treatment or care.
Monitoring of treatment: MEDEX Assistance Coordinators will continually monitor your care and regional medical advisors will provide consultative and advisory services.
Facilitation of hospital payment: MEDEX will either wire funds or guarantee required emergency hospital admittance deposits. Hospital expenses are covered under your UPlan medical option, but you are ultimately responsible for reimbursing MEDEX for any deposits and advances.
Transfer of insurance information to medical providers: MEDEX will assist you with hospital admission, such as relaying benefit coverage information, and also help with discharge planning.
Medication, vaccine, and blood transfers: If medications, vaccines or blood products are not available locally or a prescription is lost or stolen, MEDEX will coordinate transfers of these items to you upon authorization of the prescribing physician.
Replacement of corrective lenses and medical devices: MEDEX will coordinate the replacement of corrective lenses or medical devices that are lost, stolen, or broken during travel.
Dispatch of doctors/specialists: In an emergency where you cannot adequately be assessed by telephone for possible evacuation or you cannot be moved and local treatment is not available, MEDEX will send an appropriate medical practitioner to you.
Medical records transfer: With your consent, MEDEX will assist with the transfer of medical information and records to you or the treating physician.
Continuous updates to family, employer, and physician: With your consent, MEDEX will provide updates to appropriate individuals you designate.
Hotel arrangements for convalescence: MEDEX will assist with hotel stays and room requirements before or after hospitalization.
Emergency medical evacuation: If you sustain an injury or suffer a sudden and unexpected illness, and adequate medical treatment is not available in your current location, MEDEX will arrange for a medically supervised evacuation to the nearest medical facility MEDEX determines is capable of providing appropriate medical treatment.
Transportation to join a hospitalized member: If you are traveling alone and are hospitalized for more than seven days or experiencing a life-threatening situation, MEDEX will coordinate and pay for economy round trip airfare for a person of your choice to join you.
Return of dependent children: MEDEX will coordinate arrangements to send your dependent children back to the location of your choice if they are left unattended as a result of your illness or injury. If required, MEDEX will also arrange for the services of a qualified escort for the children.
Transportation after stabilization: MEDEX will assist you in making arrangements to return home or to the place of your choice.
Repatriation of mortal remains: MEDEX will assist in obtaining necessary clearances for your cremation or the return of your body and will pay for the preparation and transportation to your home country.
Pre-travel information: MEDEX can provide continuously updated destination intelligence for more than 180 countries covering such subjects as security, health, transportation, finance, entry/exit, legal, and weather/environment.
Emergency travel arrangements: MEDEX will make new reservations for airlines, hotels, and other travel services in the event of an illness or injury.
Transfer of funds: MEDEX will provide you with an emergency cash advance subject to MEDEX first securing funds from you or your family.
Replacement of lost or stolen travel documents: MEDEX will assist in replacing passports, tickets, or other travel documents.
Legal referrals: MEDEX will direct you to an attorney and assist you in securing a bail bond.
Translation services: Multilingual Assistance Coordinators are available to provide immediate verbal translation or will provide referrals to local interpreter services.
Message transmittals: You may send and receive emergency messages toll-free, 24 hours a day, through our Assistance Centers.
Emergency pet housing and/or pet return: MEDEX will coordinate arrangements for the temporary boarding or return of a pet left unattended because of your injury or illness.
Real time security intelligence: MEDEX can provide you with information and guidance for over 180 countries and select cities. MEDEX's global intelligence database is continuously updated and includes destination intelligence from over 5,000 sources worldwide.
Security evacuation services: In the event of a threatening situation, MEDEX will assist you in making evacuation arrangements including flight arrangements, securing visas, and logistical arrangements such as ground transportation and housing.
