Health Care Account - Eligible Employees
You are eligible to participate in the Health Care Flexible Spending Account if you are a University employee scheduled to work 17.5 hours or more per week for six months or more each year.
You may use the Health Care Flexible Spending Account for expenses incurred by an eligible dependent even if that dependent is not covered under your medical or dental plan. Eligible dependents include:
- Dependent children
- Any other person (including a registered same-sex domestic partner and the children of your registered same-sex partner) who is considered an eligible dependent for federal income tax purposes by meeting all of the following requirements:
- The person lived with you for the entire year as a member of your household, and
- The person was a U.S. citizen or resident or a resident of Canada or Mexico, and
- You provided more than half of the person's total financial support for the calendar year
