403 (b) and 457 Voluntary Retirement Programs

All faculty and staff who are paid on a continuing basis are eligible to participate in the 403(b) Optional Retirement Plan and the 457 Deferred Compensation Plan — two voluntary retirement plans offered through the University that allow you to contribute on a pre-tax basis toward your retirement. Learn about the similarities and differences between these two plans and your investment options.

Registration is required. Call 612-624-9090 and select Option 1.

Faculty Retirement Plan Workshop

These workshops are for eligible faculty members and P&A staff to learn about the Faculty Retirement Plan, including its design, investment companies, and fund options. Newly eligible faculty and staff will receive an invitation to attend. Please RSVP to the number listed on the invitation.

Health Benefits Workshop

This workshop is for employees who are interested in learning about their medical, dental, life, disability, and pre-tax benefit choices and who would like assistance before completing their enrollment online. This workshop complements New Employee Orientation by providing detailed benefits information. It is recommended that all new employees attend this workshop at the earliest session following their start date at the University.

Minnesota State Retirement System (MSRS) Workshop

These workshops are for eligible Civil Service and bargaining unit staff to learn about the Minnesota State Retirement System (MSRS).

New Employee Orientation

Orientation presents information on employee benefits and University policies, followed by an opportunity to meet with representatives from both the University and health care organizations regarding resources and services available to employees. Breakout sessions that cover information relevant to each employee's specific employee group are also held.

Register online or return the registration form included in your invitation.
