Voice and Data Services Under a Common-Good Funding Model
Background
The University uses a common-good funding model because:
- Voice and Data services are recognized as mission critical, institutional assets
- Increasing mobile and connectionless services require a common network user experience
- OIT converted the data network to a common-good model in 2002
- OIT converted the voice network to a common-good model in Fiscal Year 2009 (FY09)
Which Customers Qualify for Common Good?
- University funded customers Qualify for Common Good
- Non-University funded customers using an agency fund and those who do not get charged via a University CUFS account, continue to be billed for recurring charges:
Who Pays for Wiring Infrastructure?
- Installation and new horizontal wiring costs remain the responsibility of the customer in the form of labor and material charges
