New User Setup

Training

Several training options for Gopher Messaging are available:

• Attend a short course offered by University Technology Training Center.
• Work through an online interactive tutorial.
• View an online narrated presentation.

Initial Set Up via Telephone Access

Before dialing in, you should have the following items ready:

1. A new voicemail password (5-15 digits and different than 5-digit phone number).
2. Your name announcement (e.g.: "John Smith").
3. Your personal greeting announcement (e.g.: "You have reached John Smith. Sorry I missed your call. Leave a message and I'll get right back to you.").

Enter Gopher Messaging

Gopher Messaging asks for your mailbox number:

• Enter your 5 digit mailbox number and press .
  • If this is a group mailbox, enter the number of your extension mailbox and press .

Gopher Messaging asks for your password:

• Enter your 5 digit mailbox number and press .
  • If this is a group mailbox, use just the 5 digits of the main mailbox number.

* Your initial Gopher Messaging password is the same as your 5 digit mailbox number.

Change Your Password

Gopher Messaging asks you to change your password. This is required.

• Enter a password and press .

The password should be between 5-15 digits. For security reasons, we recommend that you do not use your 5-digit phone number as your password.

Gopher Messaging asks you to confirm your new password:

• Enter your password again and press .

Recording a Name Announcement

Gopher Messaging asks you to record a name announcement:

• Speak your name and press .
  • If this is a group mailbox, we recommend you record a simple name announcement. The system will use this recording to let callers find your mailbox. That is, callers will hear "to leave a message for "Your name announcement," press ."

Gopher Messaging replays your recorded Name Announcement:

• To accept press .
• • The name announcement preceds messages when you forward a voicemail to another subscriber. You may review and re-record your name announcement until you are satisfied.

Recording a Personal Greeting

Gopher Messaging asks you to record a Personal Greeting:

• Record your Personal Greeting and press .

Gopher Messaging replays your recorded Personal Greeting:

• To accept press
• • The personal greeting plays when calls are sent to your voicemail. You may review and re-record your name announcement until you are satisfied.

Congratulations! The basic setup telephone access is complete. To perform additional mailbox setup such as busy greetings, press at the main menu prompt to change Personal Options.

To reenter your mailbox:

• Dial or - (or just press your voicemail button)
• Enter your mailbox number
• Enter new password
