List of Services

Consultation

The Minnesota NMR Center provides consultation services to researchers who are interested in utilizing NMR in their work.  Consultation includes advice on experimental feasibility, sample preparation, and experimental design.

Training

The Minnesota NMR Center offers workshops in practical NMR throughout the year. The workshop fulfills the training requirements for the Center’s core instruments. This workshop can also be taken for academic credit as BioC 4225 or BioC 5225. The Center also offers specialized training for non-standard or custom applications. For more information on our workshop course, please visit our workshop page.

Service Samples

The Minnesota NMR Center can setup and collect data for a researcher at a cost. This service is available to internal University of Minnesota researchers and external researchers in an academic or industrial environment. The NMR Center can also provide tubes and solvents at cost depending on availability.

*Interpretation of data is not typically included with service samples due to time constraints. Any interpretation required will be discussed on a case-by-case basis. Any extensive interpretation is normally done as a collaborative effort.

Metabolomics

The Minnesota NMR Center has two state-of-the art NMR instruments designed specifically for metabolomics analysis. These two 700 MHz instruments are equipped with 5 mm and 1.7 mm TCI cryoprobes.  The autosamplers can queue up to 480 samples at one time in a refrigerated manner. The NMR data from these measurements can be difficult so the center has partnered with Chenomx, Inc. in Edmonton, Canada to provide data analysis of the spectra at a discount. This analysis will include a search and quantitation of 300 metabolites. Customized analysis is also available.  The Center also has the ability to analyze solid tissue samples with magic angle spinning.
