Writing Data to a Floppy Disk on a Sun
The Ultra 10 (nmr1) in the Biochemistry NMR lab has a floppy drive
that can be utilized for data storage of small files.
To use the floppy drive:
1. Insert the floppy disk into the drive.
2. Select the file manager icon from the CDE menu bar.
3. Choose "Check for Floppy".
4. A window for the floppy disk should open.
5. You can then use the regular File Manager to drag and drop
files to copy files to the floppy disk. The file manager can be
accessed by clicking the right mouse button on the wallpaper and
selecting "File Manager".
6. Important! When you are finished and want to eject the disk,
you must go the file window for the floppy and choose "File",
"Eject". You should get a message about being able to manually
eject your floppy now.
7. Use the eject button to remove your floppy disk.
Mercury users: You do not have to open the VNMR software to do this.
It is actually easier not to so you have space on the Sun wallpaper to
work.
