Scientists study how our brains age
What makes us age? How does aging affect the brain? A first of its kind study aims to answer these questions and uncover why some brains are more resilient than others…The study is important because not much is known about the healthy brain, said Dr. Deborah Powell, dean emeritus of the University of Minnesota Medical School.

Smaller, renewable energy projects setting roots across west central Minnesota
It’s hard to miss the development of renewable energy at the University of Minnesota campus in Morris. There are now two, 1.6-megawatt wind generators towering over the prairie and cranking out enough kilowatts to provide 60 percent of the electrical needs on campus.

Piracy reduces foreign box office receipts 7%, study says
A new academic study provides ammunition for those who say online piracy is hurting Hollywood's bottom line. A paper by economists Brett Danaher of Wellesley College and Joel Waldfogel of the University of Minnesota estimates that piracy caused a 7% decline in international box office returns during a one-year period bridging 2005 and 2006 studied by the academics.

Tentative stadium deal for U, Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings and the University of Minnesota have struck a tentative deal on how much the team will pay the U to play at TCF Stadium while a new Vikings stadium is built near the Metrodome.
