The big news in the state of Minnesota Sunday was the Minnesota Twins signing of hometown favorite Joe Mauer to an 8-year, $184 million contract extension that will keep the St. Paul native in Minnesota until at least 2018.
A U of M expert who can discuss this news is:
Eric Brownlee, a sports management professor in the U of M's School of Kinesiology and also vice president of the U of M's Sports Business Institute, has expertise in the sports industry and can speak to how Mauer's contract will impact both the Twins' organization and the local professional sports landscape now and in the future.
In addition, Brownlee can also speak about the revenue implications that the Twins' new stadium, Target Field in downtown Minneapolis, will have for the organization, including the franchise's ability to sign players like Mauer.
