Earth day and the economics of "going green"

Today is Earth Day, a time when the health of the planet is center stage and supporters rally behind environmentally friendly initiatives.

But what are the financial considerations of going green? A University of Minnesota expert on environmental economics is:

Arne [AR'-na] Kildegaard, associate professor of economics and management at the University of Minnesota, Morris
Kildegaard can talk about the dollars behind renewable energy plans, including Minnesota's large wind industry. At the federal level, he can break down the complex cap and trade system that creates a market of emissions permits for polluting industries. Kildegaard is also able to speak about the effect of the recession on renewable energy industries.
