U of M program honors veterans by encouraging them to utilize their skills in the community
Since 1926, Americans have set aside Nov. 11 to honor all Americans who have served in the military, both during wartime and in peace. One way in which Minnesota communities can pay tribute to returning veterans is help them transition into civilian life and encourage them to continue to utilize their unique skills when they get home. A U of M expert who can discuss a program that does just that is:
Dennis Donovan, organizer with the Center for Democracy and Citizenship at the U of Ms Humphrey Institute
Donovan can discuss the Us Warrior to Citizen campaign -- a statewide grassroots effort that provides community support to returning soldiers and their families and challenges Minnesotans to think creatively about how returning veterans can contribute their new skills and experiences as citizens.
