Connie C. Schmitz, Ph.D., is a widely regarded consultant in evaluation methodology and owner of a new firm, Professional Evaluation Services. Prior to this she was a Research Associate at the University of Minnesota, Center for Urban and Regional Affairs for six years. Before 1992, she was Director of Evaluation and Coordinator of the Office of Research and Evaluation for the General College at the University of Minnesota. She has taught evaluation courses and workshops for the Humphrey Institute and the College of Education and Human Development, also at the U of M. Currently, she is Associate Editor for Evaluation Practice, the sponsored journal of the American Evaluation Association (AEA). Dr. Schmitz received her masters in curriculum and instructional systems and her doctorate in educational psychology (program evaluation and measurement). Among her published work is co-authorship (with Dr. Bland) of a review of faculty vitality programs and a text for model faculty development programs in academic medicine. She has served as principal investigator for a number of large-scale, multi-site demonstration grants in health funded by the W. K. Kellogg Foundation and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and by state government. She has served as a technical consultant to the National Institutes of Health (National Cancer Institute and American Cancer Society) and as a panel reviewer for the National Institute in Environmental Sciences. Her most current evaluation work is with sexual violence prevention and integrated service delivery for chronic illness. She continues to serve as an on-going consultant to the Kellogg Foundation's Evaluation Unit in the area of cluster evaluation methodology. Connie at her desk
