More Funding for Faculty Development Programs If you are interested in obtaining information about funding for faculty development programs you may find the HRSA web site to be useful: www.hrsa.dhhs.gov/bhpr/grants.html. This site lists all the primary care training grants managed by the Bureau of Health Professions such as the predoc grants, residency training grants, establishment of department grants, and faculty development grants. (These grants are not all available to all the primary care disciplines, although those in faculty development are.)

HRSA Training Grants An officer of the BHPr presented a new structure for the HRSA training grants at the annual STFM meeting held spring, 1999, in Seattle. The kits aren't out on these yet, but we thought you would find the information the funding officer presented useful. If you have PowerPoint 97, you can view a copy of the presenter's slides: STFM.ppt For more information on HRSA training grants, you may also go to their web site at www.HRSA.gov Dr. Bill Mygdal, who has been part of a national advisory committee to HRSA, Division of Medicine on the training grant programs, has shared a report he presented on the types of faculty development programs that can be funded under federal grant legislation (Title VII). The report includes information on primary care clinician research fellowships, primary care master educator fellowships, primary care faculty leadership development fellowships/training, and community preceptor training. If you would like additional information about this report, please contact William K. Mygdal, EdD, Director, Faculty Development Center at Waco Texas - wmygdal@texnet.net |
