Access with U of M Guest ID

index back to index

Non-University of Minnesota users can create and use Guest IDs in order to participate in the Moodle sites, WebVista and other University services that allow guest access.

  1. Create a Guest ID. The email address that you specify on this online form will become your Guest ID.
  2. IMPORTANT: Activate the Moodle account by logging in to Moodle server with that Guest ID and password.
    • Once the Guest ID is activated in Moodle (added to the user database), it will act as a regular U of M Internet ID with one exception: users with a Guest ID will not be able to login to the myU Portal at this time and should go directly to the Moodle server to access their sites.
    • Instructors/designers can later manually add you to their sites. In that case step #3 will be eliminated.
  3. You may self-enroll into the Moodle sites if you know site name or URL, and have an enrollment key, provided by the instructor.
