There are 3 types of sites you can choose from:
Academic Site
- A course site for University academic courses is a site set up to fetch class lists of registered students from the PeopleSoft® system. If you know the course designator and term of your class, we recommend this option.
- Include the following information:
- course title (e.g. Introduction into Sociology)
- course subject/number (e.g. SOC 1001)
- session/semester offered (e.g. Fall 2007)
- campus (e.g. Morris)
- course section(s) or call number (e.g. sec 001; class number 67548)
- autoenrollment (For academic sites only. If you choose Yes, then we will fetch students based on their course registration in PeopleSoft. All adds/drops will be processed automatically)
- summary (searchable and public description of your site)
- any specific instructions (private notes for the Moodle support group)
- enrollment key
- NOTE: If you are not an official instructor of record listed in PeopleSoft:
- For student privacy and FERPA reasons, we must be able to verify course instructors in the class schedule. Therefore, if you are not listed in the class schedule as the instructor, or if you have requested a course site for someone else (e.g. you are a TA), we will create the site so you can begin to work on it, but we will not fetch the class list of registered students.
- If you are the one who will be teaching the course, ask your department to make sure you are listed in Peoplesoft as the instructor of record. Once this is done, let us know, and we will fetch the class list of registered students into your site.
- If you have requested a course site for someone else (e.g., you are a TA), ask the instructor of record to email us approval to fetch the students.
Development
- A development site enables you to create prototype course sites and to explore Moodle features and tools. Development site contents can be easily transferred later to a course site. If your class is not yet in the class schedule or has not been assigned a course designator, we recommend this option.
- Note: The site request form will ask you to fill out a course subject, sections, and semester offered. Please type something in those required fields, so form will get submitted. It does not matter what you actually type there.
Non-Academic Site
- A Moodle site used for any other purpose: group collaboration, departmental web-board, internal training, etc.
- Note: The site request form will ask you to fill out a course subject, sections, and semester offered. Please type something in those required fields, so form will get submitted. It does not matter what you actually type there.
After you get your site, you can:
