Site copy index back to index

You may use an existing Moodle course site as a template for your new site. To request a copy of a Moodle site, send an e-mail to moodle@umn.edu. Provide the course designator and semester of the site to copy (example: PUBH 5003, section 1, spring 2005).

You can also create site copies by yourself.

Copy of your own course or course to which you have instructor access

  • Request a blank site from moodle@umn.edu.
  • Backup your existing course and Restore it into the blank site, OR
  • Use the Import tool to import only course resources and activities

Copy of somebody else's course

  • Ask your colleague (site owner) to send an email to moodle@umn.edu
    • Note: If the site owner gives you a backup file and you restore it into the blank course yourself, you might lose access to it since you were not an instructor in the original course. To avoid this, make sure not to include any User Information during the restoration process.
