R. Arlen Price, PhD, University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, presented a seminar entitled "Identifying Genes for Human Obesity." Dr. Price is a member of our External Scientific Advisory Committee and presented this seminar in conjunction with a site visit of our Center.

March 9, 1998

James Prochaska, PhD, University of Rhode Island, presented a seminar entitled "The Transtheoretical Model of Health Behavior Change: A Research Update."

May 28, 1998

Michael D. Jensen, MD, Mayo Clinic Endocrine Research Unit and Director of the Human Metabolic Studies Core, presented a seminar entitled "What happens when we eat too much?"

June 29 through July 2, 1998

Finn Rasmussen, PhD, Dept. of Epidemiology, Karolinska Institute, Sweden, visited the Minnesota Obesity Center and presented two seminars on his work: "Trends in Overweight and Severe Overweight Among 18-Year-Old Males in Sweden Between 1971 and 1995" and "Association of Maternal and Fetal Factors with Systolic Blood Pressure and Body Size at 18 years of age: a cohort study of 166,072 Swedish male conscripts born from 1973 to 1976."

September 16, 1998

Wendy Hellerstedt, PhD, Division of Maternal and Child Health, presented a seminar entitled "Weight Change and Depo-Provera Use Postpartum." Support for this research was provided by the Minnesota Obesity Center.

November 18 & 19, 1998

Theresa A. Nicklas, DrPH, LN, of the Dept. of Food & Nutrition, North Dakota State University visited the Minnesota Obesity Center and presented a seminar entitled "Coronary Heart Disease Problems Begin in Childhood: The Bogalusa Data."
