Epidemiology and Intervention Core

Product Nutrition LabelThe overall goal of the Epidemiology and Intervention Core is to make high quality services for epidemiologic and behavioral intervention studies available to Minnesota Obesity Center investigators.  These services include population selection, population survey, data collection and management, nutrition assessment, energy expenditure assessment, and intervention development for outpatient and community studies. 

 

The services through the Epidemiology and Intervention Core are organized into four sections:

  1. data collection services, including population selection, survey, data collection and follow-up, data entry, and database management;
  2. nutrition assessment, including consultation on selection and methodologies, instrument design, data collection, and nutrient analysis;
  3. intervention services, including assistance in the development of diet and exercise interventions for outpatient populations in clinic and community settings and environmental interventions; and
  4. health care delivery which is designed to provide linkages between Center investigators and obesity research in a managed care setting, including providing access to consultative expertise in health services research, clinical services, and community-based health promotion interventions, access to administrative data, access to defined populations receiving health care services under managed care contracts, and access to a unique systems-based approach to delivering behavioral interventions.
