The Minnesota Forage and
Grassland Council (MFGC) was organized as a non-profit
organization in Minnesota in 1976 to encourage more efficient, profitable production
and use of Minnesota's forage crops. MFGC is an affiliate of the American Forage and Grassland Council and is the largest of the state forage councils. Sixteen local
forage councils in Minnesota operate within MFGC.
MFGC is dedicated to providing education to those who
utilize forages (hay and pasture) in support of their livestock. The
organization provides educational instruction through conferences, expositions, on-farm
forage cultural production practice demonstrations, publications, news releases, and
quality tested hay auctions. MFGC is unique because of its membership makeup and has
the ability to pull together the educational tools to provide effective teaching to all
forage producers. MFGC identifies the results of forage research and extends that
information to members and the farming community.
