The Racial Justice & Regional Equity Project (RJRE) examines the impact urban sprawl has on people of color who live in central cities and inner-ring suburbs. This project engages civil rights leaders in addressing concerns of racial justice through a regional equity lens.

Through this project, the Institute on Race & Poverty (IRP) seeks to highlight and analyze regional strategies in affordable housing, quality education, employment opportunities, and other initiatives, under way in cities across the country. IRP staff members will also work with civil rights leaders to create effective strategies that recognize differences in population, political dynamics, and history in various metropolitan areas.

The RJRE Project is funded by the Mott Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the Open Society Institute.
