As president of the Pew Center on Global Climate Change and its umbrella organization, Strategies for the Global Environment, Eileen Claussen leads the mission of providing credible information, straight answers and innovative solutions to address climate change around the world. Prior to her current position, Claussen served as assistant secretary of state for Oceans and International Environmental and Scientific Affairs, where she developed and implemented policy on behalf of the United States. Her past roles also include special assistant to the president and senior director for global environmental affairs at the National Security Council; director of atmospheric programs at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency; and deputy assistant administrator for the Office of Air and Radiation. Over the years, Claussen’s achievements have earned her many prestigious awards. She is also a prominent scholar and the author of several publications on the environment and development.

Kelly is chairman of the Science Museum of Minnesota’s board of trustees, and serves as a board member for the Capital City Partnership, the Edison Electric Institute, the Minnesota Orchestra and Regis University. In addition, Kelly is an active member of the Minnesota Business Partnership, the National Petroleum Council, and the National Advisory Council for the U.S. Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

This past January, Senator Amy Klobuchar took the oath of office to represent the people of Minnesota in the United States Senate. For the eight years prior, she served as Hennepin County’s chief prosecutor, managing an office of nearly 400 employees and serving more than 1.1 million state residents. After graduating magna cum laude from Yale University and the University of Chicago Law School, Senator Klobuchar returned to her home state of Minnesota to practice law. She worked closely with former Vice President Walter Mondale and became a successful partner at the law firms of Dorsey & Whitney and Gray Plant Mooty. Senator Klobuchar has also provided leadership for a variety of community organizations, including Big Brothers Big Sisters, Campfire and PACER. She currently serves on the Environment and Public Works Committee; the Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee; the Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry Committee; and the Joint Economic Committee.

In his current role at POET (formerly Broin), the nation’s largest dry mill ethanol producer, Dr. Mark Stowers is responsible for the development and implementation of the company’s research and development strategies. Having spent the past 25 years in the biotechnology field, Dr. Stowers’ leadership has helped to deploy new technologies for the agricultural, pharmaceutical and chemical industries. Dr. Stowers has also gained expertise in business and commercial development, mergers and acquisitions, licensing, marketing and corporate finance through his tenure at Monsanto agricultural company and Seminis (now part of Monsanto). Prior to his arrival at POET, he was president and CEO of MBI International, a leading biotechnology firm. Dr. Stowers also serves on the advisory board for the International Center for Advanced Renewable Energy and Sustainability at Washington University in St. Louis, Mo.; on the editorial board for the Journal of Biobased Materials and Bioenergy; and as vice president of the North Carolina Agricultural and Life Sciences Research Foundation.
