Mission Statement

To promote statewide economic development, sustainable, healthy, and diverse ecosystems, and national energy security through development of bio-based and other renewable resources and processes.

Goals and Objectives

  1. Provide leadership in research and development of environmentally sound production, distribution, and use of energy, chemicals and materials from renewable resources;
  2. Create jobs by transferring technologies into practical outcomes for industry and communities;
  3. Support the goal of moving toward an economy based on hydrogen and other renewables;
  4. Utilize bio-based and other renewable sources as a substitute for fossil fuel-based energy, chemicals and materials;
  5. Faciliate communication, coordination and collaboration.

Activities

  1. Produce cutting-edge integrative research;
  2. Conduct, oversee or collaboarate on applied research and demonstration projects;
  3. Develop science-based public policy research and commentary on energy issues and renewable resource alternatives;
  4. Convene meetings and symposia, and facilitate communication to foster multidisciplinary research, technology transfer and outreach;
  5. Support development of multidisciplinary academic studies;
  6. Identify sources of funding support;
  7. Anticipate and respond to new and emerging opportunities and areas of emphasis.
